South Shields 204, is a 1937 Karrier E4 with a Weymann H29/26R body. Work was
undertaken over the last few years, with the result that this unique trolleybus is now
resplendent again ! She was re-launched into service in 2005.

July 2002:
Serious work is required on the body to replace the badly rotted woodwork. |

June 2004:
New main waistrails and many other wooden framing has been replaced and repanelling
begun. The motor and other electrical equipment has been removed, overhauled and replaced. |

October 2004:
204 RUNS!
On the evening of Saturday, 16th October, 204 was put under power for the first
time since her extensive rebuild of the electrics.
All the electrical systems now work, so she was taken for a test run around the
site as these pictures show. |

May 2005:
A resistor bank had given further trouble and had to be renewed, throwing the
launch date into doubt.
204 Launched!
Sure enough, Brian Maguire finished off the remaining jobs in time for 204 to be
launched back into service at Spring Bank. |
