Volunteers Day
Sunday 1 June

The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft is run entirely by volunteers, all of whom have learned skills from others over the years. We aim to strike the right balance between professionalism and friendliness, which we hope makes your visit enjoyable, as well as being rewarding and fun for us too! Well, we’d like to offer YOU the opportunity to come along to our ‘Volunteers Day’ on 1st June, to find out more about how you can help...and why our volunteers enjoy being part of the Sandtoft Team! The day offers a ‘taster’ of the activities involved, so you can try your hand at the tasks that interest you, under the guidance of our experienced staff. It’s a great opportunity to discover ‘behind the scenes’ Sandtoft – and you might just discover a talent you never knew you had! (Existing volunteers can also try their hand at something new…!) Of course, if you already have experience in any of these fields, you can probably show us a thing or two!

We aim to offer training opportunities in:

Vehicle work: - Body Restoration; Mechanical Work; Basic Vehicle Electrics

Operations: - Bus Conducting; Traffic Management; Vehicle Preparation

Public Interaction: - Reception/Trolleyshop; Catering; Tour and exhibits Guides

Museum Administration: - Publicity and Promotion; Displays; Accessioning and Archiving

Site Works – Painting and Decorating; “Parks and Gardens”; Site Improvements

Please Note: Although we are keen to offer this opportunity widely, the museum must necessarily reserve the right not to offer experience or training to persons considered to be inappropriate or unfit. The Board’s decision, should it be necessary, will be final and not open for negotiation. We regret that we cannot offer ‘overhead maintenance’ on this occasion as this work is highly specialised, and the system will be in use: anyone with specific interest in this area should contact the museum office and we will try to arrange individual training opportunities on another date.

Think you could have a go at any of those? Even if you don’t, come along and surprise yourself! As a thank you for giving up your time, we’re offering FREE Tea, Coffee, and a Buffet Lunch! The Museum will NOT be open to the general public, so if you bring the family, sign them up for training too!)
